Look @ the premiership Table mate, UPSET???
The only person 'upset' on Saturday will be ME if we don't win!
Please, They failed to beat EITHER North or South - we should be going there 'chocfull' of confidence!
If Godden gets the STRUCTURE of the team right, & the players focus on EXECUTION, they should win quite easily - this has been the problem with the club (in BIG matches over the years, BELIEF)
I am sure Centrals supporters (lets remember they too are 2 & zip) wouldn't be saying "I'm going to tip us in an UPSET"
But they did beat last year's minor premier and the table you are referring to is the table after 2 rounds where we have played the two teams who will clearly finish out of the 5. We haven't beaten them in our last 5 or 6 tries and Sturt annihalated us in the minor round matches last year. If we win, most will think it is an upset - it doesn't mean that I dont have high expectations.
Err... don't want to say "I told you so", but...

Re: Sturt vs Eagles Saturday 17th April House Brothers
Upset or not this was a big win for us today. First real test this year against a top 3 side from 2009.
Worrying signs when Sturt kicked 5 in a row in the 1st/2nd qtrs but the last half effort was superb.
After our performances against Sturt last year this was a significant improvement which bodes well for the season.
Well done to the boys for a great effort today!

Yes, that most eagerly awaited clash next week. One that I'd expect the whole side to put in a huge effort for obvious reasons! And with a performance like todays' you would think a win next week. What happened today was very pleasing with our positive attack and shared the goals around.
It is our highest score since Round 21 2007; and in actual fact, the first time that a League side has scored 24.6 (150).

Re: Sturt vs Eagles Saturday 17th April House Brothers
Great team performance today,
the forward line seemed to work well with the Welsh, Grockes, Stapes and Salts making the contests and Cheepy and Goldy picking up the crumbs nicely.
Though Greiger did a great job down back, along with Jarrad, Macca, Rimmo and Miles....it's been a while since Chambers has been kept that quiet against us i would think (spelly????)
Midfield was solid again..Broady was (is) a star, Powelly and Cicca great as usual, Lewis, Gus and Geds did some good stuff, good to see them step up after Treebs went off early.
Seb, Milesy and to a lesser extent Grockes battled hard in the ruck although Sturt probably won out overall.
The twos battled all day after a sluggish start but just made a few too many mistakes at crucial times to be able to chalk up another win, great performance from Nathan Daniel is his first game for the season, Hicksy tried hard as did Thompson, Goofa and Layton McMahon, disappointing to see JJ go off early with what looked like a hammy, he seemed switched on today....must be something in the water at Footy Park!!

Re: Sturt vs Eagles Saturday 17th April House Brothers
Well what a pleasure it was today to see two teams play footy as it should be played not what we have sat through for the past two weeks, especially last week.
Great day for Grockes 100th, won the toss & kicked the first goal.
Best players from presentation tonight.
Ressies:
1st Nathan Daniel
2nd Cody Hicks
3rd Luke Thompson
4th Tom Corbett
League:
1st Matthew Broadbent
2nd Mark McKenzie
3rd Luke Powell
4th Matthew Goldsworthy
Coach made special mention of Luke Jarrad, Ben Grieger, Seb Guilhaus & Scott Lewis.
News on Treebs & Cheepy -
Treebs bad corkie on the hip
Cheepy having xrays
With the extra days Treebs maybe OK but no news on Cheepy.
Will check things out at training Wednesday night.
No presentation on Monday after Noarlunga game so will have to wait until following week to post best players

Re: Sturt vs Eagles Saturday 17th April House Brothers
Lets start by saying it was a pleasure to watch two teams playing a free flowing style of game. And today the eagles performed things during the game that they have been practising since pre pre season started way back pre xmas.
Great things today Goldsworthy and Cheep proved their worth.Luke Jarrad down back although he coughed up a couple of goals performed that quarter back game to almost perfection.Luke Powell continues on his way to a good season.cica was playing like a teenager .Lewis was down on last week but still almost had the goal of the day/year.
Grieger as I was told by West fans would hold Chambers and he did.
Maca is working himself into form after an interrupted pre season.
But lets talk about Grocke .His 100th league game (not as stated by the abc 100th for the eagles) and he certainly played at times like a man possessed. And in that last quarter that dribbling goal could almost be goal of the year.
So in the end the eagles played like they were the number 1 team in the comp .That's right they are at present the number 1 team in the comp
And yes Mickyj almost lost his voice yelling for his eagles today.

Woodville-West Torrens swept Sturt aside with a final-quarter blitz to put its rivals on notice with a powerful statement at Unley on Saturday.
The 44-point victory stretched the Eagles' unbeaten run to start the season to three matches but yesterday's performance was by the far their most emphatic.
Challenged by the Double Blues to three-quarter time, the visitors put the blow torch to their opponents with a highly impressive team performance to bag nine goals in the final term.
It was a display of substance with the Eagles prepared to share the workload and get their hands dirty against an opponent who was outplayed in most facets of the game.
''The first two weeks I was really disappointed with our scrappiness,'' Eagles coach Michael Godden said.
''The players took ownership during the week. We knew we were in for a big battle and the way we moved the footy was closer to where we want to be.''

Yeah, but you can't complain. Everyone now must run a fine tooth comb over your last 10 posts to pick out any of your errors, despite the fact you aren't getting paid to comment on here.

Certainley didnt see that result coming! One got the feeling watching today that the side is really starting to gel together as a group on the field. Its damn lucky for the Eags that Salter did not get drafted to the Crows or he would probably be playing AFL at present!
