Pre Season Trials Vs Glenelg, Vs Magpies
Have been to a few training sessions so far, plus the internal trial and feel there is scope to fit in a few newbies in the next two trials.
Liam Buxton is a big brute and let's hope he can add support to the Hayes boys up forward and Redden in the ruck.
Very much liked what I saw from Ryhan Mansell, was very tenacious and had a some pace, should get a back pocket or H/B flank position. Pierce Seymour looked solid in the back lines and did most of the kick outs. Young Lachy Jones looks special, would think he might get a game on a H/B flank. Has a lot of dash and has a penetrating kick. Tom Gray has looked pretty reasonable at training and in the internal, so he might find a spot up forward. Lachy McNeil has to play on ball, he has hardness and determination. Kai Pudney might find a spot somewhere, but has to be where he can run a lot. Caleb Poulter a 6'2" to 6'3" wingman was very, very good in the U18s trial on Saturday and was up training with the seniors last night, one to watch in the future.
I reckon Jordan West might get the second ruck role, did OK in the internal trial.
I think a number of senior players will miss the trial due to injury, work and holidays, but it will be good to have a look at the newcomers.

Re: Pre Season Trials Vs Glenelg, Vs Magpies
Tristan Carcuro is a 27 yo that played for Sacred Heart Old Scholars and might have been on South Adelaide's list but didn't play league. Think Joey S. is O/S on holidays and Foote, Toumpas, Lonergan, Johansen, Haylock and Firns are on the injured list. Angus Poole I think is playing reserves to fit in with work commitments.

Lachie McNeil, Ben Jungfer, Jamie Coffee, Luke Beecken, Zane Williams, Lochie Hoile, Luke Barnett, Shaun McNeilly and Deaken Jackson would be all overaged players and Lachie Jones is 18 in May think it is

Put Langcake on the injury list too I'm sure he'd be there still without knowing but he did his acl back in May the triple header at home though he's a reserves player he was too good for C grade at Lockleys not last season but the year before

I think you will find No 48 Aaron Asfaha (21 y.o.) is of African (Eritrea) heritage. Played a few games as a top up for the Crows in 2019. Has played for a couple of Adelaide Footy League clubs.

There was talk the SANFL will be played behind closed doors. I wonder if the trial game will be the same although there wouldn't be many there anyhow.

I seriously hope the sanfl season isn't canceled, I'm sick of hearing about the virus and think like everyone ill badly miss it and badly miss seeing the boys each week or so and so if the afl season is axed will it mean the sanfl season is too

Rupert Peake was Sacred Heart Old Scholars too he was on the crows reserves list i just looked him up as i met him with Pierce at the same time so that's probably how they know each other I'd imagine

Re: Pre Season Trials Vs Glenelg, Vs Magpies
Final score but can not vouch for accuracy as there was no score board in use.
Eags. 7.7 Glen. 9.5
Encouraging effort by the Eagles. Of the newbies I thought McNeil, Mansell and Jones were excellent. Pierce Seymour was very serviceable.
I liked what Tom Grey did after being out for twelve months. A few more games together and the Eagles will be a formidable unit.

We didn’t get killed and just lost which is great . I prefer not to be flag winners in March

Re: Pre Season Trials Vs Glenelg, Vs Magpies
An encouraging display by the Eags last night. Not sure of the strength of Glenelg's squad but we had quite a few better players out as mentioned previously. Some juniors who stood out were - McNeil, Mansell, Jones (aka Steve 'The Bull' Pavlich), Pudney. Comma's positon must be in doubt due to poor turn-overs. Rowe was good as was Seymour, Gray and Redden. More pace in the side this year and good to see us 'get over the back' of the opposition at times.
