Got the whole game on tape somewhere.
Mark Naley always seemed to have a bit of difficulty with Cicca's name!!
Great mark by Scotty Matthews, and certainaly some talent running around at the beginning of their carrers.

Re: Round 6 1999 vs Sturt
I would be interested to know how many (and what) matches the ABC have covered of the Eagles.
I've got some of the Round 11 2000 match vs Port at Alberton; however what I really want to get is the match played two rounds later at Noarlunga.
I have also got most of the Preliminary Final of that year when Fox Footy showed it; the 2003 1st Semi Final; Round 12 2004 and Round 12 2005 and the Qualifying Final of 2004. (Note a trend in those matches?)
I've got some other matches, but I'll bet not nearly as much as what you have, Columbo, or others on here.

Re: Round 6 1999 vs Sturt
Ive got a very grainy version of the 1991 game at Alberton..we must have won or I wouldnt have kept it! Have got the 92 Reserves GF and the 93 and 94 Foundation Cup GF's, and the 93 and 06 League GF's. The rest of the stuff I have is various games from the mid 90's through until early 00's.
Until last year it seemed that our games were on TV quite frequently, almost every game against the Dogs seemed to get on there and quite a few against Sturt and Port.
That game at Noarlunga you are after Spelly was that the year the oval looked like a wetland after it bucketed down all day?

Yes. Never have I heard an atmosphere so dead at a footy match that day. Anyone cheered - there was no echo! And I have never seen so much water on an oval before. Adelaide Oval on the TV in Round 23 2005 a close second:
Round 13 2000
Eagles 0.4 1.8 4.11 9.16 (70)
South 1.1 1.1 2.2 2.3 (15)
Noarlunga, 1177
I've posted them somewhere before, but the scorers were:
Eag: C.Kluzek 2.3, Dylan 2.2, M.Kluzek 1.2, Beveridge, Colville 1.1, Darzanos, Gallagher 1.0, Higgins, Pearce, McGregor, Cicolella 0.1, Rushed 0.3.
S.A: Osborn, Demasi 1.0, Hassall, Turvey, Stagg 0.1.
I recall Chris Kluzek not very happy early in the last when he missed two in a row; and a rather forlorn Nick Pesch after the match with a big ice pack strapped to his leg.
Do you reckon I'd be able to get in touch with someone to obtain a copy of that match? VHS would be fine.

Re: Round 6 1999 vs Sturt
Ive only missed 3 games of footy in the past 11 years and that day along with the final against Port at Adelaide oval a few years ago and the game last year at Woodville early in the season against South are the worst conditions I can recall.
The thing i remember most about that game at Noarlunga is the driving rain all the way down there, all through the game and then the rain stopped and the sun came out as we were hitting Brighton Rd on the way home

2002 at Noarlunga was just as bad as 2000 I reckon. Not so much as the water on the ground, but it was dead set freezing; and there were frequent showers either almost horizontal or just straight down. Then you had 2008 vs South at Woodville - about the same temperature. I counted about 15 people who weren't in the grandstands or next to them before the start of the match!

Looking at my data, I'd say you are correct, because he did not return until the Preliminary. The following week was his last match, because of course, he played with the Redbacks for a couple of seasons.Eagle014 wrote:Columbo, was this the game that Ben Higgins was badly injured in??

Anzac Day @ Noarlunga v South last year in the Juniors, I was in the Grandstand and it was coming down so heavy that I could just see the goals at the northern end.

Hard to believe that incident was that long ago, but then as Spelly said he went to the redbacks and think he then may have gone to England to play cricket in the winter.
