Re: Eagles V Tigers
Ok going to stick my neck out now. Its so quiet in internet land isnt it!
Guess its now that the boys need our support, hell we were all there when things were going great!
If the lads cant fire up tomorrow, first home game, rob's 100, cica's 250, and the club trying there best to make a great day, then I will start to worry.
Not yet though, the players are there, maybe we need to screem our lungs out tomorrow, and let them know that we are ALL behind them, they would not be happy with the way things have gone so far either.

Re: Eagles V Tigers
Disgraceful, and we pay to watch that.
I don't care what players we have out, you expect the team that runs out gives 110% and today I feel only a couple did.
If we could hav a team full of Ben Griegers, ok not the most skillful but at least he has a lion's heart and never gives up.
I don't mind losing, everyone does, but at the moment it's the way were are losing.
The clubs recruiting dept has stuffed up badly this year. We desperately need a 2nd ruck, a 3rd tall who can mark and some grunt in the centre. We also seem to have no depth with ressies getting smashed again.
When our fwd line reads Rae, Culley and Raymond in the last qtr what hope do we have. Why when we win the ball across half fwd do we always stop and wait and wait for a fwd to lead into the pkt with a defender always on him? Get it in quick and things happen.
Can't see us playing finals, be honest who will we beat and when we finally get fit and firing the season will already be lost.
When did Day get his transfer back to the Tigers, must have been late Friday as they were playing with an extra all day and it wasn't the umpire.

Re: Eagles V Tigers
Some numbers from today that make for interesting reading,
We had:
51 more disposals (8 more kicks / 43 more handballs) In Round 1 we had 58 less and 48 less last week.
8 more marks
8 more hit outs (38 - 30, Grieger had 30 himself)
and
Equal number of Inside 50's (41) - but only 44% (8.10) vs 61% (13.12) score return. In Round 1 we only went in 26 times compared to 54 for Port and last week 37 compared to 52 for Norwood
but
We lost the clearances by 12 (Round 1 and 3 we lost clearances by 15)
We had 13 less tackles
So numbers wise today was a bit of an improvement but we still struggled going forward and getting the ball away from stoppages which probably wasn't helped by loosing the Extractor early on, then loosing Heinjus leaving only 1 on the bench for rotations.
As frustrating as it is to see the boys lose again perhaps today they started to make progress. Cica mentioned at the club tonight that he thinks a win is just around the corner, thats good enough for me, lets hope that corner is Menzies Crescent Prospect.

Re: Eagles V Tigers
the way i see it the problem mainly is we are sacrificing what made us preimers our defence to cover the losses in other areas. last year we didnt have to score heaps to win as we could keep teams to under 10 goals but as wee need the defender elsewere we are robbing peter to pay paul, but all you can do is keep supporting and hope things improve soon or that redden comes home as in 12 months he gone from a guy that look lost to a very good ruckman.

Re: Eagles V Tigers
Now that it's been almost 24 hrs after the game I've calmed down. Shouldn't really post straight after getting home, too many emotions.
Anyway do agree about Redden. I bet the club thought we were going to have him for 90% of the season. Clubs should NEVER plan on having Afl players available because it comes back to bite them on the bum.
Looking back now would have loved the club to have signed Cockshell, the answer to 2nd ruck or 3rd tall. Didn't happen so we move on.
