LUKE Jarrad is the latest mature-age SANFL star attracting AFL interest.
Adelaide and Essendon are believed to be looking at the classy midfielder who has played 108 games with Woodville-West Torrens.
``There has been (interest),'' Eagles coach Michael Godden yesterday confirmed.
``I met with Essendon and there's a little amount of interest.
``And Adelaide has shown some interest but everyone has kept their cards close to their chest.''
Jarrad, 27, is one of several mature-age SANFL players vying for a shot at the big time next season.
``He can play wing or half back and the AFL suits his style,'' Godden said.
``He's durable, fit and got a good turn of speed.
``If clubs wanted to cover their depth he's a good fit.''
Port Adelaide has already recruited Norwood's Simon Phillips (23), while fellow Redleg Paul Puopolo (22) reportedly toured the Western Bulldogs' Melbourne base this week.
Central District star Ian Callinan has trained with Adelaide while Nathan Daniel (Eagles), Nick Liddle (South) and Tom Jonas (Norwood) have trained with the Power.
Elsewhere, Magarey Medallist Brett Backwell joined North Adelaide's pre-season training this week.
Football manager Greg Edwards expects the former Glenelg on-baller to sign with the Roosters ``very soon''.
South Adelaide has announced North pair Toby Stribling and Michael Wundke have signed for next season.
They will be joined by Victorians Joel Cross and Lachlan Carey, and ACT's Andrew Ainger as recruits at Noarlunga.
