Talk about Jekyll and Hyde! Dogs looked like they were going to destroy us from the second qtr onwards. We didn't have any winners anywhere. Then after half time all the players you'd expect to perform for us - Burgoyne, Hastings etc - all went to another gear.
I think most of the players on the field offered something at various times. Hastings awarded the medal who was worthy but I would have awarded it to Cook. First time I've seen that bloke and he is balanced and classy with a beautiful left foot kick. Not sure whether he's eligible to be drafted this year but he's a certainty to be off to the AFL. West also showed why he's easily the best big man we have got on our list. Very mobile for his size.
Phillipou is an interesting one. Had a brilliant second half but is much smaller in height than I realised. Body-wise he's not the 'athlete' that his older brother is who generally fits the modern-day AFL protoype as a tall on-baller. Jevan seems more of a half-forward specialist at the moment. Will be interesting to see whether he developers into a permanent onballer next season with us.
Well done Eagles. Hope to see the entire squad training with the League team over pre-season!

Woodville-West Torrens produced a stunning comeback to win the 2024 SANFL U18 premiership with a fighting four-point win against Central District at Adelaide Oval.
In a highly entertaining title-decider, the Eagles trailed by as much as 33 points 19 mins into the second term before piling on the next six goals in succession to snatch the lead in the ninth minute of the third quarter.
Earning their first flag since 2021 and fourth in seven seasons under master coach Shane Reardon, the fourth-placed Eagles charged into the most important match of the season on the back of wins against Sturt and Glenelg in the major round.
And it was this momentum which propelled them to such a memorable victory as captain Jett Hasting claimed the Alan Stewart Medal as best afield with 20 disposals, six marks, four clearances, seven tackles and a goal.
Scores were locked on 59 apiece at the final change and both teams went goal for goal as Aidan Schubert tied things up in the 14th minute after converting his mark on the lead from 40m.
The Dogs, who had earned direct entry to the Grand Final, then edged in front with consecutive behinds kicked by Dougie Cochrane and Schubert.
But then tall Eagles forward Logan Hughes took centre stage when he turned off one step to snap truly from 35m, kicking the match-winning major with nearly six minutes to play.

Mentioning Jack Cook, watched all his finals games and thought the GF was the lesser of all three. I think it was the first semi match he was absolutely outstanding, that is not to put his GF effort down, but just highlighting how good he has been. Most probably our best finals player.. He still has another year to go in the U18s so not eligible to be drafted. He is the son of Tim Cook ex Centrals and Crows, show a hell of a lot of talent. Another with still a year to go is Logan Hughes CHF did some real good stuff including a banana goal (40m out), when he picked up the ball in the middle of a pack for the winning goal. Charlie West did some very classy things, shows definite AFL potential. Unfortunately Kade Herbert had a quiet day but still put in effort all day. The pilot, Jet Hasting was outstanding and won the Alan Stewart medal (BOG) should play league next year.

Re: Under 18 grand final
I reckon some of the lads yesterday kicked goals that our League team struggled to kick this year, both distance and difficulty wise. Shane Reardon is an exceptional coach of young men.

Second your comment.
I've often thought over the past few years what sort of league coach Shane would have made. May be too old now.
With the length of time he has coached at junior level it has never faded his ability to change with time, have a very effective game plan and he has successful and enduring player relationships. He has been fantastic for our club.
When he gives up coaching he must be retained in some position at the club.

Does Sauce have his input to the league team? Could do worse?
