Eagles Vs North Sat 29 June 2.10pm
If Jarrad Redden doesn't recover in time for the North match, with whom do we replace him ? - Lukac or Boyd? Neither has shown form in the Seconds to give us confidence. Line Lukac and Boyd up against each other.
1. Fitness. Lukac would have to be fitter. Boyd, although having played approx the last 4 games, did very little training prior due to injury, surgery.
2. Rucking skills. Despite Boyd being shorter, he has a better reach at the centre bounces (Lukac's leap is mediocre)
3.Overhead marking. Neither has shown much in the Seconds. Werribee football manager described Boyd as ä good athlete with a strong set of hands" and the Eagles recruited him primarily as a key forward who can ruck so we have to presume that when fitter, Boyd is better overhead and multiskilled.
4. Potential. Boyd is aged 22-23years. Lukac might be a year younger. Boyd was recruited with the expectation of giving drive in 2024 (surgery intervened). Lukac is on a slower learning curve.
So who do we go with ? IMHO, regardless of whom we choose out of the two for the match against North Adelaide, I think Boyd is more likely to be more important than Lukac near season's end. And, of course, hopefully Reddo may be fit !!!!!!!!!!!

So if redden isn’t over his hamstring who first rucks ?
Do we play both Boyd up forward Lukac on the ball . One must help Balladen he can’t ruck the entire day
And do we bring Macfarlane back in on the wing ?

Not disappointed to see Bailey Hann omitted.
He hasn't shown much and he's been given a fair stretch of games at League level.
Getting very close to our strongest side with Goldy the only notable absentee at the moment.
Very handy for us with North not having Wigg available for selection. He's always damaging and gets plenty of the ball.

Yes, I cant see how this side can improve with any more players. Just have to fine tune our skills and stay injury free. Fingers and legs crossed,

Re: Eagles Vs North Sat 29 June 2.10pm
Earning a top 3 spot and having a good run with injuries in the lead up to August/September action is going to be vital for all clubs. I hope the two close losses against Centrals won’t cost us the double chance, especially the home game loss that we let slip.

Re: Eagles Vs North Sat 29 June 2.10pm
This is such a vital game for the Eagles. Beat sixth-placed North and we go four games plus a healthy percentage clear of them, and you would think that with seven games remaining, that would virtually guarantee us a finals spot this year. But lose to North and they are just two wins behind. Then we have two very tough games against Glenelg and Sturt, while North face bottom placed Port and South, so North could be level with us in three weeks! I certainly hope that none of the Eagles players show any complacency in the game just because we trounced North by 92 points in Round 2. It will be a far different 'prospect' tomorrow.

Re: Eagles Vs North Sat 29 June 2.10pm
One thing we need to do over the coming weeks is protect our percentage. If it gets close to those currently behind us on the table, or higher percentage could "save" us.
Lets hope that it doesn't get that close!!

7-point lead at 1/4 time in our worst 1/4 this year. I'll take that.

Positives?
Struggling to find any. In a tight season , coming up against a lower placed side, that was a must win.
North headed us to the ball in almost every contest
and our ability to hit a North player by foot was uncanny. Really need to find some spark or we look the side most likely to drop out of the five

Re: Eagles Vs North Sat 29 June 2.10pm
Let's hope that's a one off - a terrible game with the main reason being our midfield was thrashed. Every one of our players in our 'engine room' had days to forget. That happens and I have no doubt they will bounce back.
However what is a constant is the continual poor performance of Nicholls (5 disposals) Pearce (6 disposals), Beattie (9 disposals), Buck (disposals) with a single goal between them.
Love Sauce, but one criticism I have of him is he gives underperforming players far too much leniency when they are letting the team down. We've had Macfarlane and Hansen playing really well in the reserves the past 5 weeks and none of them can get a look-in. What gives?
