Re: Grand final 2021
hawke wrote:So if rumours are worth listing from other sites, we have:
1. Poole and Guiffreda retiring to play country football with VB
2. Rumour of delisted exPower/Swan Sam Gray to Eagles, but I may have prompted that by simply suggesting he might be available.
3. Jungfer to retire to working on a cattle station in WA.
Now all of this stuff may be absolute rubbish. But while the coach and players rightly celebrate a magnificent achievement, for Luke Powell and Co, the pressure is on again for next year's recruiting. (already Glenelg website is claiming a gun recruit).
Heard that Powell & Co are going though 50+ CV's they have received from all over the country.

Jungfer is going to work on a property at Fitzroy Crossing - NW Western Australia.
Redden said he would like to play next season.

Re: Grand final 2021
Reddo has been amazing. Having a restricted pre -season and missing the first 6-8 weeks due to recovery from shoulder surgery, he had some good games (probably the best SANFL tap ruckman ) but his restricted mobility suggested at times that this might be his last season. However, he continued to build, had a good finals topped by a dominating GF, to make him an important cog in our attempt for a three-peat.

Talking to Nick Hayes' mother last night she said, the football situation in Melbourne is doing his head in, would like to come back and play here but has work and partner commitments in Melbourne.

Always assumed it was just a one year deal. Heard that there is a chance that lowson may return

Absolutely. He was instrumental in that 2nd quarter onslaught last year, playing with that shoulder injury he got in the Prelim. Then his game yesterday, particularly the start of the 3rd when the game was up for grabs. Brilliant game by the big fella.

Re: Grand final 2021
Eagles Rumour Team for 2022 might be:
Outs: Guiffreda, Poole, Jungfer, Stengle, Beecken (AFLdraft)
Ins: Sam Gray, Sam Lowson (minimum, hopefully more)
Then the team looks:
FF S Gray D Menzel Cameron
HF T Menzel J Hayes Lowson
CC Toumpas Tsitas Pudney
HB Litser Lehmann Hoile
FB Rowland Thompson Goldsworthy
1R Redden Knight Sinor
2R Hayes Mutch Gray
Res Mutch Lonergan Firns Comitogianni
Emerg Seymour, Hardie, McFarlane
Still a pretty good team, not accounting for continued improvement in our young players Pudney, Mutch, Litser, Hoile and even older recruits Hardie and McFarlane who were new to SANFL and will adjust to higher standards in 2022. Seymour is the unluckiest player having played 90% league game time over 2 seasons and missing out on GF wins both times.
And this team is picked assuming very ordinary recruiting (2 signings). Should we also sign a rebounding tall defender like Angus Baker (Canberra) and midfielder James Cousins (delisted Hawthorn), then our stocks improve dramatically.

Good side still. Missed VB as well as an out. Any news on Nuttsy coming back. I saw it mentioned somewhere. Lets hope a few U18 can make it.

Re: Grand final 2021
VICTORIOUS Woodville- West Torrens coach Jade Sheedy said it was fitting that
the Eagles’ colours would soon adorn the new SANFL premiership chimney at the
Brickworks Marketplace, noting it’s just a stone’s throw away from The barton Oval.
“It’s great history for our footy club, The barton Oval, so it feels like we’re back
home,’’ a smiling Sheedy said after leading the Eagles to back-to-back flags.
“For a long time we used to play home games there (as West Torrens), so it’s good to
be around the corner and have our colours on the new chimney.’’ For the first time, a
new home – only 3.4km from the traditional site – has been found to recognise the
SANFL premier and runner-up. West End expects the main chimney, to feature the
Eagles and runner-up Glenelg’s colours on an aluco bond shell at the top of the kiln,
to be decked out next week.

Re: Grand final 2021
Mickyj, I can see on another site where you're having a "discussion" on club boundaries with another non-Eagles supporter who is suggesting the Eagle's advantage in having Henley High and St. michaels in the Eagles zone. If you look at the SANFL Club zones, you will see that we don't have any area south of Trimmer Parade other than a small strip along Seaview Rd to about Reedie St.which means St Michaels is probably not in our zone (can't get enough detail on the map to be certain. Bloody disgrace that not only Henley but also Grange was ripped from us in the last boundary change along with most of our spiritual homes Flinders Park, Lockleys, of course Thebbie Oval was taken a while back. Ripped the guts out of us and then SANFL says "that's OK boys, we're giving you LeFevre Peninsula to make up for it" Losing your spiritual home and identity isn't compensated by just swapping with yet another area even if demographics suggest the number of boys (and girls) are similar.
As the western suburbs population rate of growth falls behind the expanding boundaries of Adelaide, are we going to see Glenelg given even West Lakes while we're pushed further north?!!!
So much for tribal football !! Woodville-West Torrens (especially West Torrens) certainly have punched above their weight in performance considering the way SANFL have pushed their zone.

Still not getting sick of watching the GF. I watch parts of it daily. Gets better each time on how we totally dominated 4 quarters. Those Menzel's stood tall when it counted. I worried about Comma's effectiveness but it was never in doubt on the day.

One of Comma’s tackles interceptions was classic

Comma did some great things on Sunday. For a guy that has had some injury in his career he crashed in all day, after his sacrifice last year absolutely deserves the medal around his neck.

Before I forget the Menzel brothers were outstanding
2020 season we only really had Rowe and Hayes
2021 season Menzel brothers Stengle and Hayes
And unlike 2020 GF the midfielders kicked goals this time the forwards did

Re: Grand final 2021
Watching the replay multiple times brings new stuff for me - like Kobe Mutch's game hasn't been talked about much (pun unintended). More than the defensive game that he played on Gibbs in the minor round at Noarlunga, this was his best game for the club playing offensively, kicking 2 goals, and handing out handballs, teaming with Redden for clearances and defending well. Was right up there as our best midfielder. Reckon he has the potential after that performance to develop next season into a premiere midfielder

Honestly as the GF progressed Kobe lost his nerves of being in the GF,
You could be correct Hawke about him for next year
