Life Governor’s Empty Life Governor’s

Post by Aerie Sat Oct 31, 2020 12:50 pm

Congratulations to Ron Fuller, Justin Cicolella and Luke Powell on being awarded Life Governor status. They join Bob Hank, Lindsay Head, Fred Bills, Malcolm Blight, Bob Simunsen, Andrew Payze and Andrew Rogers with the highest honour.

I’d guess Mark McKenzie would have been honoured last night as well, if it wasn’t for border restrictions.

Any others deserving of this status?

Kevin McSporran and Gavin Colville stand out as multiple best & fairest winners in their eras. Bruce Lindsay was the standout of the final era of West Torrens. Ralph Sewer stands out - the only player to play SANFL over 4 decades, 12 state games and a best & fairest.

Then there is the pre-WW2 era of West Torrens which hasn’t been looked at. The standout being Tom Mackenzie.

Great job by the club to surprise Powelly last night, and also great to have Mark McKenzie and Mark Passador do the intro for Luke, unfortunate that the border restrictions meant Luke's family couldn't be there.

A magnificent evening all round. Congratulations to all involved for your hard work and thought that went into it. One of if not the best football club events I've ever been to. Bring on 2021, can't wait.

Yes, it was a very enjoyable evening with a great atmosphere. There had to have been at least 500 people there. Well done to the club for organizing it so well. Also was nice to start with drinks on the 'Lindsay Head Terrace'...
