The Woodville West Torrens Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Jade Sheedy as our Senior Coach for the next three seasons.
Jade, 39 years, was one of the foremost SANFL footballers, of the 2000’s. He made his senior SANFL debut in 2000 with the Sturt Football Club, and subsequently achieved virtually everything in the game, including the 2002 Magarey Medal, best and fairest awards in 2004, 2006 and 2008, participation in Sturt’s 2002 Grand Final triumph and captaincy of both club and SANFL state team. He called time on his SANFL career at the end of the 2012 season. In 2015 Jade assumed the role as Senior Coach for the Athelstone Football Club and developed a strong program, culminating in this year winning the Division 2 premiership.
Club CEO, Luke Powell said “We are thrilled to appoint Jade as our Senior Coach for season 2020 and onwards, Jade has gained great experience in running a successful program at Athelstone Football Club and excelled in all the criteria’s we were looking for. Jade is a highly respected person in SA football who has a great knowledge of the game and is passionate about SANFL football. The Club welcomes Jade and his family and look forward to him excelling with our playing group.
On his appointment Jade said “I am extremely honoured to be given the opportunity to coach such a great Club with such a strong and successful history. I truly believe the Club has strong foundations in place and a resilient playing list which will continue to strive for success. I am excited to become part of the WWTFC and I am looking forward to building strong relationships with all involved.”

Meteoric rise from A2 ammo’s to coaching a SANFL club.
Hope they either have a mentor in place (i.e. similar to what
Kym Hodgeman did) OR know what they’re doing!

Is it worse than coaching in tassie and coming to the eagles ?

At least he would have such an act to follow. Unlike Lonergan, Has to be a better choice than last year for sure in my book (unless he has secret desires to get to the AFL)Mickyj wrote:eagleray wrote:Meteoric rise from A2 ammo’s to coaching a SANFL club.

I noticed a SA Footy member said us signing Jade was a bit suspect . Something about it only taking 10 days after he’d won a flag .

Good to see we went for a local coach. The interstate coach is something of a bygone era. Never rated Lonergan. You need a coach that understands the local game.

I think Glenelg might beg to differ.
It took them a while to get the message last year but in their last 27 games they have Won 21 lost 4 and Drawn 2.

I red between the lines of Sam leaving I think it was on the cards he was heading to the AFL.
If he wasn’t heading there Eagles might have done the same as Glenelg, but it wasn’t meant to be . Reading so many comments about the Eagles signing Sheedy some very unhappy fans from other clubs . On one forum a disgruntled Glenelg fan . But reading comments from south fans they think we will go after Davis or he will head to Norwood. And I think an ex trainer from us saying Sheedy will go in with a big broom !
I mention these because it’s the silly season we fans members have no idea what’s going on .
I asked a source at oval ave if we were chasing Sheedy I didn’t get a yes or no lol .

Not sure what the issue was but at times the game plan for won’t of a better term either wasn’t working . Or the players weren’t respectful of the coach
End of the day it doesn’t matter 2020 new beginnings for the eagles

Was talking to one of the coaching staff and he said that Sheedy had said that he did not want to make too many changes especially to the game plan as he is the third coach in three years and did not want to complicate things for the players. I think there is quite a few in the reserves that need to be let go. A lot of very good U18s should be given a go in the reserves next season.
