Eagles New coach
Welcome Aboard.
The Woodville West Torrens Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Sam Lonergan as our Senior Coach for the next two seasons. After an extensive process presenting to two interview panels, Sam stood above an outstanding field of applicants.
Sam, 31 years, who originates from Launceston has a vast amount of experience through the AFL and three State League competitions. After playing 81 games over 9 seasons with Essendon and Richmond, Sam spent time as a playing assistant at Glenelg for two years before taking on the Head coaching role at Launceston the previous three seasons.
Club President Kurt Slaven said “We are absolutely thrilled to have Sam become the Eagles coach for the next two seasons. Sam’s professionalism, broad knowledge of the game and his strong core values really impressed the coaching subcommittee and the Club is very comfortable and excited for Sam to guide the playing group to its next successful period”
On his appointment Sam said “I am delighted and grateful to be given such a wonderful opportunity to coach such a proud Club with such a strong history. The Club has a great culture in which I will endeavour to build upon. I believe the Club is in a great positon with a strong playing list to continue to push towards success. My family and I are excited to become part of the Eagles and to build strong relationships with all involved”
Please join us in congratulating and welcoming Sam, partner Kirrie and children Harper and Ellis to the Eagles family and we wish them all the success in Sam’s new role as our Senior Coach.

NOt much to see.
And there is still no resolution in the Eagles’ bid for compensation in the wake of the 19th man drama when the Roosters had an extra man on the field for the first four minutes of the final quarter.
North’s win was upheld by the SANFL tribunal, prompting the Eagles to lodge paperwork with the SANFL demanding significant compensation for being denied a spot in the grand final. Legal representatives for the Eagles and SANFL met on Wednesday night and will have another meeting next week.

With the new coach on board I hope the club give Sam all the assistance he needs plus have in place a quality group of assistant coaches. I hope Godden is still around for advice (only). Sam may even be able to get a few Tasmanians over. We have had success I the past with them.

Firstly thank you Goddy11.
Secondly I hope getting Sam as the new coach brings our delisted AFL guys home some Tassie recruits a big forward from somewhere.
Anyone else we can bring into the fold

Re: Eagles New coach
It’s gonna be a pretty important AFL draft for us... hopefully we’re not hearing too many Eagles names (besides Lukosius)... or potential homecoming Eagles.
Do you guys think Jack Hayes may get picked up? For our sake I hope not, but would be great for him.

Mara32 that's an interesting question re Jack Hayes.
I have no idea thought it was interesting the moving both
Hayes boys into the centre. How about some younger players like Rowe anyone think he could go .

Re: Eagles New coach
I don't think Jack is up to it although he's a great mark. Not as a forward any way. He does have a lot of upside. Hope he is not just rookied and left to waste in some AFL b-grade . I would say Pudney and Frederick were impressive in the State U18. Both in PA academy squad.Mara32 wrote:It’s gonna be a pretty important AFL draft for us... hopefully we’re not hearing too many Eagles names (besides Lukosius)... or potential homecoming Eagles.
