The Woodville West Torrens Football Club can confirm that Robert Shirley and Ben Grieger have announced their retirement from the SANFL.

Shirley who returned to the Club after 150 games for the Adelaide Crows and 2 years as a playing coach in Canberra played 118 for the Eagles. Shirley who earned the respect of not only his team mates but the wider football community with his toughness and ruthless attack on the ball was also a member of the 2012 SA State Team.

Grieger who joined the Club from West Adelaide in 2010 played 100 SANFL games including 62 for the Eagles and was also a member of the 2012 SA State Team. After joining the Club Grieger quickly developed into one of the premier Full Backs in the SANFL consistently shutting down the oppositions best forward with his speed and strength.

Please join the Club in congratulating Robert and Ben on their careers and in wishing them all the best in the future.

Very disappointed that Grieger is hanging up the boots. He carried us the second half of the year in the ruck. He still has lots to give, will be a big gap to fill.
