Rnd 21 - 26/08/2011 Eagles v South Hickinbotham Oval @ Noarlunga League 7:40pm

This a another must win game and hopefully enough of us get down there to cheer on the boys !!!

I certainly would hope the club goes out to win every match they play. A win this week gives the side the following scenario:

If losses in the remaining two matches, the best any other club can do is:

3: Eagles 11-9
4: South 10-9-1
4:Glenelg 10-9-1
4: Port 10-10
4: West 10-10

However, if we lose this match, then win one of the next two, South can still gain 3rd spot if they win the other two matches:

3: South 11-9-1
4: Eagles: 11-9
5: Glenelg 10-9-1
6: Port 10-10 (or 9-11 if we defeat them)
6: West 10-10 (or 9-11 if we defeat them)

i.e. That is the best that Port, West or Glenelg can do.

So a possibility is this - we win this week and know we can't go anywhere over the last two rounds. We will be the only team knowing our finals fate two weeks early. Norwood and Central will be playing for top spot; Glenelg, South, Port and West will still be battling for 4th and 5th.

However, we must win both of the remaining two matches, if we lose this week, and South win next week. Their last two matches are easily winnable.

And really, this is such a danger game - we would want that double chance spot secure without having to rely on other results. Considering our two efforts against South have been ordinary this year, and having almost a training drill against Glenelg could breed some contempt.

And for the fact over the last two seasons, we have looked good to reach the double chance early in the season, then to fall out of it as the year progressed, I would not like to see that for a third year in a row.

Totally agree Spelly .This is a must win game again for the club.Firstly to secure third spot .And then to prove the eagles can 1 win under lights and 2 can beat south at Noarlunga!
We can not let this game slip! We can not let 3rd spot slip !
I hope the club has learnt from our round 3 effort at Adelaide oval !

Parry returning this week is a huge lift to the on-ballers. Hopefully, we can retain Broadbent for the next 2 games to qualify for finals

Was a very hard win but it was a win .
What was up with those lights not up to SANFL standards .The Adelaide end was that dark even the coach couldn't see .
And that damn twit with the mic is our number 14 GROCKE or GROCK !!! American Basketball crap coming into our game shame south shame south!!

I think take the win for what it was! VERY important, not pretty though.
