Funding for Lights
The WWTFC is extremely pleased to advise that Maughan Thiem Kia Oval is getting new lights!
The $700,000 funding forms part of the Federal Government COVID Hardship Policy and was secured by the City of Charles Sturt Council. This is a fantastic result for the WWTFC and for SANFL football. The WWTFC would like to acknowledge and thank the City of Charles Sturt Council and the Federal Government.

Re: Funding for Lights
Does anyone know if they are suitable for night matches? Could be a bonus for us.

Believe Woodville cricket club was involved and they wanted lighting to be of a standard that cricket could be played at night, so I think football would also be able to be played at night. It was interesting to see that the mock up on face book showed six lighting pylons, I very much like this plan.

Re: Funding for Lights
Are the lights cheaper to run these days due to Solar etc.? Was there issues with some clubs (Central from memory) about playing night games due to the cost of the electricity?
Anyway, hopefully there can be some night games at Woodville Oval and it works out well financially. Good also for cricket. Henley FC and WTDCC recently have installed game quality lighting at Henley Oval so the two western suburbs cricket clubs leading the way in this regard. With women and juniors playing also, it gives more flexibility in the programming.

Good point on cost of running the light. How can cricket clubs afford to run the lights ? Not sure solar is that good at night.
WA, Norwood and Glenelg seem to have no issue.

Haha, yes true, they probably won’t work like those garden solar lights will they!

Understand that they are LED lights, able to be adjusted to different levels for different activities (matches, training)
Not sure if any other SANFL grounds have LED lights, besides Adelaide Oval possibly?
