Re: George "Tuppence" Kersley
George “Tuppence” Kersley, one of the most beloved figures in the history of the Woodville West Torrens Football, has passed away at the age of 102.
George was the oldest living SANFL footballer but is best remembered for his coaching.
As a coach of West Torrens and then the Woodville’s juniors during the 1940′s, 50′s and 60′s, Kersley helped launched the careers of legends including Lindsay Head, Fred Bills and Malcolm Blight.
He won eight premierships in 21 years and later went on to be a selector at both Clubs before they merged in 1991.
His funeral will be held this Wednesday at the Folland Chapel at Enfield Cemetery at 1pm. A celebration his life will be held at the Woodville West Torrens Football Club at 3pm.
