club email
The Woodville-West Torrens Football Club has today kicked off a unique community-based partnership with Little Heroes Foundation which will benefit children with cancer and other serious illnesses in South Australia.
During the announcement, the 2011 SANFL Premiers unveiled its senior Guernsey for the 2012 season featuring a Little Heroes Foundation logo in the area traditionally awarded to major sponsors.
In addition to the Little Heroes Foundation branded Guernsey, the Woodville West Torrens Football Club has also agreed to donate part profits of all of its major fundraising and Club events in 2012 and 2013 to Little Heroes Foundation. These donations will be directed primarily to the Foundation’s ChildFamilyCare program that supports Children and their families living with cancer and serious illness.
Chris McDermott, Chairman of Little Heroes Foundation, had this enthusiastic response;
"This is an incredibly generous offer of support from the Woodville West Torrens Football Club, that we on behalf of the children and families we represent are very proud to be part of."
"Football Clubs play a major role in the lives of so many families and I cannot congratulate the Eagles enough on understanding they are so much more than just a Football Club. We look forward to working closely with Chris and his team to make this a great success for all concerned and encourage other sporting organisations to adopt a similar approach with their chosen Charities."
Woodville-West Torrens CEO, Chris Davies added "In addition to being accountable to our members, sponsors and supporters we have a further responsibility to our Community, both locally and across the entire State."
"We take this responsibility extremely seriously and our partnership with the Little Heroes Foundation will help us take this commitment to a whole new level. The code of Australian Rules Football is a powerful tool and I have no doubt that all of the stakeholders in our Club will take great pride in giving back to those in need within the South Australian community".
Whilst the value of the signage on the senior Guernsey is estimated at over $30,000, the Woodville-West Torrens Football Club and Little Heroes Foundation hopes that it will serve as a priceless reminder of the importance of the work that the Little Heroes Foundation does.
