Where have they gone? Do we really miss them
At the start of the season it appeared many supporters were dismayed at the number of players we lost and the apparent lack of recruiting, especially holden78 who we don't hear from anymore.
At this stage of the season to be top with only one loss is absolutely outstanding. The club has appeared to have got on with the business of winning and that has been fully endorsed by supporters (not like Glenelg's whinging supporters - biggest whingers ever).
A quick look at the composition of our team over the season reveals that the first seven matches of season we only played 13 of the 2016 Grand final team. In the eighth match we played 12 and the last two only 11 - could be the reason for our stuggles in winning.
Since Godden's extension to his contract there seems to be a different philosopy in regards to playing of and the composition of teams especially the U18s and Reserves. Players with talent and a possible league future appear to be given preference for fast tracking, this also could have been bought about by injuries and national carnivals (U16, U17 & U18 currently beeing played). The 100% emphasis on locals is very encouraging and supported by the significant numbers we have in the state squads. Keep up the good work.

The 2's are all over the place this year but they are certainly uncovering some talent, says alot about how valuable Shane is with the 18's too as their team seems to be changing every week but they are still going along well.
As good as it was to have strong 2's for the past 4 seasons it was probably because we had alot of players who for whatever reason never really took their opportunity in the league side when they got it.
