The mighty Eagles are shy of two decades old. Who have been your favourite players over the last decade?

Cicca and Colville for being the ‘heart and soul’ of the club. Who could forget Cicca’s efforts in the victorious grand final victory and Gavin’s selflessness in withdrawing before the game due to injury.

Tim Inkster – the best mark ever against Westies. He was such a mercurial player.

David Westbrook – that ‘specky’ he took in the goal square during ‘The’ grand final.

Luke Powell – arguably our most consistent and courageous player.

Big Red – the best ruckman in the state and he never took fools lightly.

Joe Pedlar – after niggling Chambo for 3 quarters, the big Sturt fairy took a swing at Joe and got himself reported. I laughed for a week. Of course I can’t forget Joey’s one and only goal kicked in his career. He celebrated for the remainder of the game.

And … the one and only Flash, with his pace and penetrating left foot kick.

I could easily list numerous players but that is enough for now.[b]

David Nieman and Paul Lindsay ...best in the league in their day

Flo, Peds and Peter Fiacchi - Underrated & great clubmen

Gav, Hally and Cicca - Heart and Soul esp in the GF losses

Powelly, Treebs and Macca - Modern day version of the 3 above

Weed - From a personal point of view (along with Linds in the 00's) my favourite player to watch for the way he went about it.

Couldn't agree more with that.

Peter Fiacchi: you could always rely on him to get the team out of trouble in the back lines

Paul Lindsay: possibly the best SANFL ruckman in the last 20 years

Jamie Tape: very skillful player and seemed to also be a genuinely nice guy

Andrew Payze: my personal favourite growing up as a child - I always made sure to wear number 7 in the school team

Matthew Pavlich: we only saw him for a year as a 17 year old but was a star from his first game - I can remember him kicking a goal 20 seconds into his first game at Glenelg Oval (I think he ended up kicking two of our three goals for the day). The following Monday morning in a uni maths lecture I wrote his name in the back of my book saying to my mates that this kid's going to be a star.

Will always remember Tapey kicking the goal in the 93 Grand Final giving the little finger wave as it went through and then turning around to head back towards the backline all in the one motion.
